By Ed Hinerman on November 5, 2010

Not too long ago I outlined several private aviation life insurance underwriting changes that Prudential had made, almost all of them in favor of the pilots. Included in those changes was underwriting for private pilots of experimental or home built aircraft without a flat extra charge and rates as good as preferred best for some ...read more

How Important Are Guarantees?

By Ed Hinerman on September 28, 2010

I know. I know. The boy that cried wolf, right? “Make sure the insurance you have has a guaranteed rate for as long as you’re going to need it”……”Don’t buy any insurance that doesn’t have a guaranteed level premium”!!! I’ve honked this horn for so long and so obnoxiously I’m surprised that I haven’t been ...read more

By Ed Hinerman on September 21, 2010

John Hancock announced today that sales of their Protection Whole Life product will be temporarily suspended “due to the ongoing low interest rate environment”. Protection Whole Life has a guaranteed interest rate of 5%, slightly higher than industry average for whole life, so will we be seeing an industry move to tighten interest rates even ...read more

Thinking 30 Year Term? Think Quick!!

By Ed Hinerman on July 15, 2009

As the number of companies grows announcing term insurance rate increases, in the last few weeks another snowball has started rolling down hill that will affect many, especially young adults in their 30′s and 40′s. The most recent trend is companies discontinuing their 30 year term policies altogether citing the current cost of reserve requirements. ...read more

And The Ball Keeps Rolling, And Gaining Speed!

By Ed Hinerman on May 7, 2009

Can you say fire sale? I just got notice of yet another term insurance price increase, this time from American National, and it appears that the rebound from the lowest prices in history are picking up steam. I know all of the whole life agents that like to attempt to beat me down are loving ...read more

Term Insurance Fire Sale!

By Ed Hinerman on March 19, 2009

With the latest news coming today it is no longer conjecture on my part. The downward trend of the past 15 years in life insurance has hit bottom. ING Reliastar today announced increases in their term insurance rates. I guess the only good news coming from them is that since their permanent products kind of ...read more

Since the end of 2008 I have been following with detail as rapidly as possible about the changes in the life insurance business. “Ed, I just wanted to drop you a line. I wanted to Thank You for your professionalism in following up with my request for insurance. I was feeling a little down when I was turned down by two companies due to the PSA results. When I applied with your company I thought I would be turned down also, but I guess all agents aren’t created equal. Hey just wanted to let you know that I will recommend your services to any one that I know who may be looking for Life Insurance.”
